SPI mold event heads to northern California
The eighth year of success for the Moldmakers Trade Fair in Southern California has prompted the sponsoring organization to begin planning a comparable 1999 event for northern California. The five-hour fair drew 66 exhibitors, up from 54 last year, and attracted 460 attendees, up from 380.
``We did a survey here and found interest,'' said Frank Capolupo, SPI's western regional manager in Irvine, Calif. Tentatively, the additional fair will take place in the San Jose area in late May or early June.
Pair team up to create firm for small molds
Thomas Denton and James Prior have formed Honor Tek in Ontario, Calif., as a specialty firm designing, engineering, fabricating, repairing and modifying small molds.
Honor Tek, which opened in April, employs five including four mold makers. ``Tom has 35 years of experience in the mold-making industry,'' Prior said.
Honor Tek is located in a 5,000-square-foot facility adjacent to Prior's solely owned Honor Plastics, an injection molding and insert molding operation with 11 presses.
