DETROIT — Increased business in automotive and packaging markets is leading Custom Resins Inc. to add 14 million pounds of nylon 6 capacity at its Henderson, Ky., plant.
``Everything's taken off at the same time for us,'' Patrick Delaney, vice president of sales and marketing said at SAE.
The new capacity, which will create four new jobs, is slated to be on line in June.
The firm also plans to commercialize a new grade of low-flex-modulus nylon 6 later this month. The company is producing the material for a maker of garden-hose mantles, Delaney said.
When the expansion is complete, annual nylon capacity in Henderson will be at about 35 million pounds. Wayne, N.J.-based Custom's total capacity is about 85 million pounds.
1998 sales were around $50 million; Delaney said he expects to increase that by 25 percent in 1999.
