PLASTICS PREP

In Akron, Ohio, Polymer Technol ogy students from East High School toured the Akron Polymer Training Center recently. The pro gram helps 25 juniors and seniors get jobs in plastics. ``We're train ing students for a variety of options, one of which is to get an entry-level job in a plastics plant,'' said East High teacher Sharon Kaffen, a former research scientist at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and Glidden Co. who left industry two years ago to become a teacher. The training center is part of the University of Akron. Instructor Robert Digiantonio shows students the Santoprene thermoplastic rubber parts they molded.
