AKRON, OHIO — If you expect to need timely, authoritative information this fall about the prospects for various resins and key end markets, help is at hand.
Plastics News is staging Executive Forum 2000: Forecasting Materials & Markets — a conference for top officials from plastics processors and their original-equipment customers — in Orlando, Fla., from Oct. 13-16.
The event, slated for Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort, will build on the success of PN's first executive conference, held last November in Chicago. Executive
Forum 2000 will feature industry experts assessing current and future prospects for at least six resin types and as many end markets, including automotive, packaging, medical, building and construction, and computers and electronics. Additional presentations will address other topics of current interest.
The event will include a Friday night banquet at which PN will present its annual Processor of the Year Award.
Early speaker commitments include the following.
Michael Paslawskyj, vice president of CIT Group in Livingston, N.J., will discuss the general economic scene and CIT's projections for the plastics industry.
Alexander Lidback, styrenics director at Chemical Market Associates Inc. in Houston, will assess polystyrene and ABS markets.
Edgar Acosta, polyester manager at DeWitt & Co. Inc. in Houston, will handle the polyester resins outlook.
Pat Duke, DeWitt vice president of polymers, will offer his views on polypropylene markets.
Austin Peppin, president of Peppin & Associates Inc. in Chesterfield, Mo., will give the engineering thermoplastics overview.
Matt Bowen, who formerly held senior marketing posts with injection molders Global Zero LP and Shape Inc., and who now is owner and president of Fuse Integrated Marketing Inc. in Newburyport, Mass., will serve as moderator.
The end-market breakout sessions will involve speakers from leading processor and original equipment manufacturers and encourage lively, interactive discussions with the attendees.
