HEERLEN, THE NETHERLANDS — DSM Polypropylenes, part of DSM NV, plans to close a 154 million-pound-per-year PP plant in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, this month.
The DSM unit, formerly DSM Performance Polymers, said PP capacity has been raised at other plants at Gelsenkirchen and at Geleen in the Netherlands.
Heerlen-based DSM Polypropylenes will see its total PP capacity boosted to more than 2.2 billion pounds next year with the launch of a 550 million-pound PP unit at Gelsenkirchen. The new plant is to begin operating in the second quarter of 2000.
