CINCINNATI — OnSpec Composte, a new company in Cincinnati, has started production of planks made of a blend of recycled plastic and wood.
The company uses recycled polypropylene, polystyrene, polyethylene or PVC, depending on the intended use of the planks. President Jay Mayer markets the planks as Specwood.
The company has a single twin-screw Milacron extruder. It has six employees and runs three shifts. The plank is being tested by potential buyers, Mayer said.
