LINDSAY, CALIF. — Drainage and landscape industry supplier NDS Inc. of Lindsay acquired Agrifim Irrigation Products Inc., a maker of drip and micro-irrigation products, on May 25. Terms were not disclosed.
The seller, Rael Sacks, remains president and is operating Agrifim as a NDS division from its existing facility in Fresno, Calif.
Agrifim was formed in 1985 and employs 15. The unit manufactures more than 500 injection molded products including emitters, tubes, filters, regulators, fittings, valves and stakes for landscaping, agricultural and nursery markets, principally in the West.
NDS was established in 1979 and employs 300 in Lindsay and another plant in Troup, Texas. NDS supplies drainage products, fillings, valve and meter boxes, Hefco equipment pads and Shawtown landscape products to a broad-based market. Until now, NDS has not competed in the agricultural niche.
Collectively, the three sites mold plastics on 60 machines. The injection presses of 200-1,500 tons use polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene and PVC, and the structural foam units of 200-400 tons use polyolefins.
``This acquisition joins two very strong names in the landscape and irrigation industry,'' said NDS President Bob Babcock.
