General Plastex, a screw and barrel maker in Barberton, Ohio, in troduced a carbide-faced injection valve assembly and a new way to convert a general-purpose screw to a mixing screw by adding a mixing head. The carbide coating can im prove valve life by 50 percent or more, especially on machines running abrasive materials. On the screw conversion, the company said the process can provide the benefits of a mixing screw at about half of the cost of a new screw.
