Growing Variform Inc. is letting out its seams with recent expansions at three of its plants.
This month, the vinyl siding manufacturer will complete a 100,000-square-foot expansion on the warehouse at its Jasper, Tenn., plant, President Lee Meyer said in a telephone interview.
During the past three months, Jasper has boosted extrusion capacity 20 percent and added large-capacity blending equipment, which improved blending efficiency by 40 percent, Meyer said.
The expansion is in response to Variform's growing customer base in the South.
However, business is coming from all directions, he said.
The company also expanded its Kearney, Mo., headquarters this year. Additional extruders and blending equipment boosted extrusion capacity by 20 percent and blending efficiency 40 percent.
The growth spurts are not over yet.
The company plans to expand its Martinsburg, W.Va., facility by 20 percent this year; and next year it plans to increase extrusion capacity and upgrade blending machinery.
Plans also are in the works to upgrade machinery and expand the product line at the Napco Inc. plant in Valencia, Pa., Meyer said.
Variform's parent company, Nortek Inc., acquired Napco six months ago.
