SOMERVILLE, N.J.-Egan Davis- Standard has developed a stretch-film winder, the Series 2200, featuring a servo-driven turret indexer, with a high rotational speed of about one second.
That feature eliminates much of the scrap generated during a longer indexing cycle, and boosts tension control, according to the Somerville company.
Series 2200 machines are fully automatic. It takes 52 seconds to do core loading, roll transfer, chuck and shaft deflation, shaft extraction, roll unloading and shaft retraction into the cores. Other systems use an external roll-handling system that requires several steps to unload rolls and load new cores.
