Bradford C. Mattson is executive vice president of CertainTeed Corp. and president of its Exterior Products Group. CertainTeed, headquartered in Valley Forge, Pa., is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain Corp., holding company for the U.S.- and Canadian-based businesses of Paris-based Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, which also include Ball-Foster Glass Container Co. LLC in Muncie, Ind., and Norton Co. in Worcester, Mass.
Mattson joined CertainTeed in 1989 as VP for corporate planning and development, and the following year was appointed president and chief executive officer of its Bay Mills Ltd. subsidiary. In May 1994 he assumed the additional responsibility of president of Vetrotex CertainTeed, the firm's fiberglass reinforcements unit. He was named to his current post in October 1996.
CertainTeed is the largest maker of vinyl siding in North America, and the second-largest plastics profile extruder, with related 1998 sales of about half a billion dollars. The firm employs 1,965 people in its 10-plant extrusion operations in North America.
Prior to joining CertainTeed, Mattson was senior consulting manager for strategic services at Andersen Consulting, a part of Arthur Andersen & Co. He also has held planning and financial management positions at PepsiCo Inc. and Ford Motor Co.
Mattson holds a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Nebraska and an MBA degree from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University.
