Joe Pryweller has been the automotive reporter in Detroit for Plastics News since he joined the weekly newspaper in December 1996. He also covers the mold-making and office-furniture industries for PN.
A Michigan native, Pryweller graduated in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in communications/business from Michigan State University, and earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in 1987. In between he worked for four years as a business and entertainment reporter at the Daily Press in Newport News, Va., and for three years as a senior editor and writer for the American Society of Interior Designers in Washington.
He joined Plastics News from Brookfield, Wis., where he had been a senior writer at Bader, Rutter & Associates, the largest public relations/advertising agency in Wisconsin. Pryweller works out of Crain Communications Inc.'s downtown Detroit offices, where Crain publications Automotive News and AutoWeek also are based.
