Prior to forming Atlantic Systems in 1999, Matheny was director of the "e-relationship program" within Andersen Consulting's global chemicals practice. That program focused on discovering and implementing new processes that exploit Web-based capabilities to manage client relationships more efficiently. He developed the firm's first Web-based proposal in 1997, which helped catapult Andersen into the e-economy.
Matheny has been a featured speaker at more than 150 client executive workshops, chemicals and plastics industry conferences and seminars, and universities around the world. He says he is best known for his ability to help people that "don't make, move or sell music, books, flowers or cheese" to understand the implications of e-commerce in their business-to-business world.
Before joining Andersen Consulting, Matheny worked for Magnesium Electron Inc., then a subsidiary of Montreal-based Alcan Aluminum Ltd. He headed up that chemical manufacturer´s sales and marketing operations for the southeastern United States. He has worked in new-business development, sales, marketing, operations and information technology.
Matheny graduated from Boston University with a B.S. in marketing, and lived in Boston before moving to Atlanta in 1991.
