Bill Lloyd is director of Delphi Global Purchasing, based in Troy, Mich. Reporting to Ray C. Cambell, vice president of purchasing, he leads several projects and initiatives. Lloyd is a key member of Project Synergy, which focuses on implementing strategies to enhance and improve Delphi's purchasing process, including the application of e-business technologies such as online auctions to the sourcing of materials.
Previously, Lloyd was commodity director for chemical purchases since March 1, 1997. Before then, he was director of purchasing at Delphi Chassis Systems in Kettering, Ohio.
Lloyd began his career at General Motors subsidiary, Holdens, in 1973 in sales and marketing. He held numerous positions on the finance, legal and treasury staffs until 1988, at which time he took on responsibilty for material management for Holdens. Since, Lloyd has led various commodities and specific projects.
He earned bachelor's degrees in liberal arts and law in 1969 and 1977, respectively, from the University of Sydney, Australia, and he earned a master's of business administration degree from the University of Melbourne in 1985.
Delphi Automotive, one of the world's largest automotive parts makers and a major plastics molder in its own right, is now a separate, independent firm after being spun off last year from General Motors Corp.
