HAMBURG, GERMANY — A Coca-Cola Co. unit is beefing up its PET bottle production capacity in central Europe. Coca-Cola Beverages Central Europe, based in Vienna, Austria, has installed seven Blomax stretch blow molding machines from Krupp Corpoplast Maschinenbau GmbH at bottling plants in Austria, Switzerland and Romania.
The soft drink company expects delivery of an eighth machine next month. It will be installed at a bottling plant in Zagreb, Croatia, according to Corpoplast of Hamburg.
The machines have 16 blowing stations.
Coke also took delivery of a Krupp Premax 48 injection press, which it will use to mold bottle preforms, according to Hans-Willy Scholl, the manager responsible for machine procurement at the Coke unit.
Coca-Cola is headquartered in Atlanta.
The companies did not disclose the cost of the equipment.
