DALLAS — Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies Inc. was among 15 organizations, companies and individuals to receive 1999 Environmental Protection Agency Region 6 Environmental Excellence Awards. Region 6 consists of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Springdale, Ark.-based AERT, which has a facility in Junction, Texas, took the Pollution Prevention Award. AERT makes decking and building products from recycled plastics, cedar fiber and cedar oil.
William Jernigan, a spokesman for EPA's Dallas office, said AERT was recognized for keeping 12,000 tons of plastics and other materials from landfills.
AERT also was recently presented with the 2000 Readers' Choice Top Texas Building Product award from Texas Building Trends magazine.
