HOLLAND, MICH. —You need a score card to keep track of Clarion's acquisitions. Clarion does not keep the old names after it buys a company. The Michigan plants are all located in the Grand Rapids area. December 1997. Triangle Plastics Inc. in Montpelier, Ohio. Sales: $3 million. In August 1999, Clarion consolidated the operation into its new plant a few miles away. Triangle founder Michael Moore has started a new molding company in the old Triangle building, called Moore Industries.
Mid-1999. Started molding large parts at a newly built, $10 million factory in a Montpelier industrial park. This past December, the plant celebrated its first month with more than $1 million in business.
May 1999. Completed acquisition of Mito Plastics Inc. a product-design company in Jenison, Mich. Sales: $8 million. Mito was renamed the Clarion Technology Center.
August 1999. Closed deal to buy Wamar Products Inc. and Wamar Tool & Machine Inc. The sister firms, a custom injection molder and a mold shop, share the same building in Caledonia, Mich. Sales: about $19 million.
October 1999. Closed acquisition of Double J Molding Inc. in South Haven, Mich. Sales: $21 million.
March 1. Announced the acquisition of Drake Products Corp. in Greenville, Mich. Sales: $50 million.
