MEADVILLE, PA. — C&J Industries Inc. is expanding its Meadville plant to accommodate growth in contract manufacturing. The company completed a 44,000-square-foot addition earlier this month, boosting floor space to 171,000 square feet.
C&J sales engineer Diana Keisel said the extra space is for contract manufacturing, but the firm eventually will install more injection presses there as well. The addition is large enough to house 14 presses.
Keisel said C&J does molding and contract manufacturing for telecommunications, medical, automotive and other markets. The company is ISO 9001 and QS 9000 certified and runs a Class 100,000 clean room. C&J's other services include tool building, insert molding, decorating and welding.
The company's sales grew 57 percent last year to $33 million. It has 49 presses, with clamping forces of 40-720 tons, that process a variety of resins including polyolefins, vinyls, elastomers and engineering compounds.
