WILMINGTON, DEL. — A federal jury in Wilmington ruled April 20 that Exxon Mobil Corp. did not infringe on a Phillips Petroleum Co. patent to make metallocene-catalyzed linear low density polyethylene resin. The jury also rejected an Exxon Mobil claim that the Phillips patent was invalid.
A spokeswoman for Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil said the firm is "very pleased" with the outcome of the two-week trial in U.S. District Court.
Phillips of Bartlesville, Okla., sought more than $150 million in damages. Phillips officials could not be reached at press time.
