NPE 2000 demonstrations will include makers of specialized equipment for various types of reaction injection molding and compression molding. The following companies plan exhibits.
Gusmer Machinery Group Inc.'s Gusmer-Admiral Inc. subsidiary (Booth N5726): New MiniRim spray head for the PU RIM process. Totally self-cleaning mix head eliminates need for pressure flushing between shots, avoids urethane waste and improves manufacturing cycle times.
Hennecke Machinery unit of Bayer Corp. (Booth S254): BaseLine-brand line of high-pressure polyurethane metering units, including the R unit for processing rigid foam formulations and the F unit for flexible foam formulations. Lower-cost line complements Hennecke's more expensive HK machines.
Krauss-Maffei Corp. (Booth S2932): The RIM-Star Plus PU metering system with a single platform holding all components, and running with a gas nucleation unit to control density; mix heads and a new overhead mold-handling system.
C.A. Lawton Co. (Booth E11618): Long-fiber thermoplastic molding equipment for extrusion compression molding. Lawton acquired the ECM and materials-handling plasticator processing technologies from Germany's Kannegiesser KMH Kunstofftechnik GmbH in August.
Also, thermoplastic automation-based processing equipment, including a rotary injection book molding press with continuous indexing between stations, Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley's Pro-set 200 control system standard on Lawton presses and a Lawton self-contained automation unit.
Thermoset molding equipment from Lawton, and screw-type pre-plasticator units from Kannegiesser.
Linden Industries Inc./EMB (Booth E12022): PU processing equipment, including a stand-alone Gas Infusion system for introducing gaseous carbon dioxide into polyol or isocyanate. Suitable for installation on new or existing PU processing systems.
The high-pressure Micro-Innovator impingement mixing machine with closed-loop flow control and throughput of 10-100 grams per second. Supplants solvent flushing needed with low-flow-rate machines.
Domestic-made MHL 3/5 180-degree impingement, L-type mixing head for small throughputs with shot ranges of 5-38 grams per second.
Sacmi Imola operation of Sacmi Group (Booth E14134): Continuous compression molding equipment for the production of plastic caps and other items.
An updated 24-cavity CCM 010 model to mold caps up to 63 millimeters in diameter for large containers of food.
64-cavity CCM 002 model, able to make more than 1,200 caps per minute for high-volume applications like soft drink containers.
CCM 011 with a new screw-out extraction system on the die to mold a wide range of caps for detergent, pharmaceutical and food industries.
