Madison Group offers database of materials MADISON, WIS. — Madison Group has introduced a material database with thousands of grades from more than 50 resin producers participating in the Campus consortium.
The Web MCbase follows uniform ISO standards, and has search and query features that allow engineers and designers to search thousands of materials and sort through hundreds of properties to locate the best material for an application.
This includes multipoint data, such as viscosity, curves, stress-strain diagrams and creep modulus curves.
Web MCbase is hardware independent, running in multiple computer platforms with a Web browser.

Foilmark unit aimed at printed products
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Foilmark Inc., a manufacturer of hot-stamp foils, holographic foils and films for the security and packaging markets and image transfer systems, has formed a new business unit whose purpose will be to increase market share in the printed products industry.
The efforts of the Printed Products unit will be directed toward the picture-frame, vertical-blind and decorative-plastics industries. Examples of the latter include automotive, boating, sign and point-of-purchase display markets.
Foilmark-Transfer Print Foils' East Brunswick facility will house all administrative, manufacturing and development personnel for the division. Inventory will be stocked with a standard line of foils, along with the custom-made patterns that will be built to customer demand.
Foilmark-TPF was created following the acquisition of Holopak Industries by Foilmark in April 1999. It includes the hot-stamp foil businesses of the combined Foilmark and Transfer Print Foils. Foilmark is in Newburyport, Mass.
Gusmer Machinery buys software firm
LAKEWOOD, N.J. — Machine tool software developer NC Microproducts of Richardson, Texas, has been acquired by the Gusmer Machinery Group Inc. of Lakewood.
GMG will realign NC Microproducts with two other GMG companies: computer-aided design/computer-aided-machining software developer Cim-Tech of West Chicago, Ill., and CNC machine tool builder Komo Machine Inc. of Sauk Rapids, Minn. Cim-Tech and NC Microproducts will be merged into a new company named NC Micro.
Komo Machine makes high-performance CNC routers and metalworking machines, while Cim-Tech supplies CNC programming and automation for woodworkers and plastics fabricators.
KoSa opens offices in Brazil, Guatemala
HOUSTON — KoSa, one of the world's largest polyester resin producers, has opened sales offices in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Guatemala City, Guatemala, as part of a move to expand its presence in Latin America.
Both locations offer KoSa's full range of fiber and resin products to customers across the region.
"KoSa recognizes Latin America as an important market for polyester, both now and in the future," said KoSa Chief Executive Officer Pedro Haas. "Therefore, we have taken these steps to demonstrate a long-term commitment to the region and its customers."
The Houston-based company has offices or production sites in Germany, Mexico, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands and Turkey. The company employs 10,000.
