Ferro Corp. has developed metallic color concentrates that drastically reduce knit lines in injection molded products.
The Nimex line currently includes eight colors ranging from dark gray to light silver. The Cleveland-based company claims the concentrates eliminate the need to apply primers and liquid paint after molding, thus allowing cost savings.
Ferro said conventional metallic colors can align vertically during injection molding, creating surface lines of color on the finished product. Its Nimex colors distribute evenly in the barrel, allowing uniform coloration, according to the company´s Plastic Colorants Division.
