Free-Flow Packaging International Inc.'s signature figure-eight loose-fill packaging has its beginnings in various forms of expanded polystyrene waste. Ground into fluff and extruded into BB-size pellets, the PS is extruded again, expanded into long, hollow tubes and formed into the figure-eight loose- fill. In 1999, the firm recycled more than 8.8 million pounds of EPS. FPI is based in Redwood City, Calif.
