AKRON, OHIO (June 4, 6:20 p.m. EDT) — United Precision Engineering Inc. will continue to work with Akron Extruders Inc. following the latter´s purchase by Milacron Inc.
UPE plans to exhibit some of its blown film extrusion equipment at the NPE booth of Akron Milacron, the new name of the extruder maker, said Greg Kalenowski, UPE general manager.
UPE will display a new 3½-inch air-cooled extruder featuring its Easy Flow die technology, air ring and internal bubble cooling control package, Kalenowski said in a telephone interview from UPE´s office in Cincinnati. The extruder can process low density, linear low density and metallocene catalyzed polyethylene.
The UPE machinery will be an integral part of Akron Extruders´ booth (N5440), said David Kattan, former president of Akron Extruders and now general sales manager for single-screw extrusion systems of Akron Milacron.
"We look forward to working with them," Kattan said.
Milacron bought Canal Fulton, Ohio-based Akron Extruders on May 23 for undisclosed terms. Milacron is moving the operations to Batavia, Ohio, near Cincinnati, although Kattan will remain in Canal Fulton.
Akron Extruders has supplied extruders to UPE when UPE supplied blown film systems to large customers such as Huntsman Packaging Corp. and smaller film manufacturers.
UPE was formed in April 1997 when Black Clawson closed its Sano division. UPE started as a rebuild and repair operation and grew to supply complete extrusion, winding and blown film systems.
Kalenowski said Akron Extruders´ teaming up with Milacron will make UPE´s relationship with the operation even stronger.
