CHICAGO (June 15, 10:50 a.m. EDT) — Van Dorn Demag Corp. (Booth S3300) has become the latest injection press maker to license the MuCell technology from Trexel Inc. (Booth S4144).
MuCell adds microscopic bubbles to the plastic melt, reducing part weight and improving processing, the company claims.
The agreement took effect June 9. MuCell will be available on Van Dorn Demag machines, including the Caliber, Spectra, HT, Integra, Newbury vertical and Cadence machines that are delivered starting Nov. 1
"Depending on the application, the payback can be as short as a year," said Scott Kroeger, marketing director at the machinery company.
Trexel was expected to announce additional licensing agreements June 19.
