CHICAGO — Van Dorn Demag Corp. (Booth S3300) has set up a virtual Web-based tour of its NPE 2000 booth for people who are not going to NPE this week — or laptop computer nerds who don't want to set foot out of their Chicago hotel rooms. The manufacturer of injection molding machines has unveiled www.vandorn-demag.com.
After a brief presentation on Van Dorn Demag's new philosophy, visitors move to a three-dimensional layout of the NPE booth.
Visitors are given a guided tour, with scrolling words and a narrator's voice, giving the highlights of each machine. Then visitors can move the cursor over each press to hear and read the details, at their own pace.
Currently, NPE-related data is the only thing on the new site. Eventually it will replace the firm's existing site (www.vandorn.com). The new site will include press releases and electronic files of company literature.
