CHICAGO — Milacron Inc. has invested $1.5 million to expand a building and buy new equipment at Wear Technology, a Kansas screw manufacturer it bought two years ago. Wear Technology, in McPherson, Kan., makes new and rebuilt screws and barrels for the aftermarket. The company purchased new metal finishing equipment, boosting its production of molybdendum, nitrided and tungsten-coated screws and barrels.
Wear Technology will display the screw and barrel sets at NPE, at Milacron's exhibit in Booths S2949 and S2968.
After the 18,000-square-foot addition, Wear Technologies now has total space of 58,000 square feet, according to Wayne Parrish, sales manager.
The finishing operation, housed in a 6,000-square-foot area of the expansion, includes eight polishing booths.
Wear Technology now can run its polishing operation on all three shifts.
By the first quarter of 2001, the company plans to add computer numerically controlled milling machines in the rest of the new space.
