CHICAGO (June 28, 1 p.m. EDT) — Corona treater Corotec Corp. introduced at NPE in Chicago what it says is a blown-film treatment system for the budget-minded.
The Farmington, Conn., company introduced its system for blown film at to compete more aggressively in the lower-price segments of the market.
"Blown film is a significant market for corona treaters," said President Bruce Stobbe. "Most of the time we were having a difficult time selling into the market because we were more expensive."
The new product is designed to be easier to maintain and clean. It features an open frame, two-side corona treatment, swing-out electrode assemblies and external air-gap adjusters for tool-free calibration, the company said.
The design also features insulators made from compressed mica, so they do not collect dirt and moisture, Stobbe said.
The system starts at $16,000.
The company also displayed its Plasma-Jet 3-D treater for injection molded and extruded parts.
