CHICAGO (June 28, 1 p.m. EDT) — R&D Tool & Engineering Inc. is adding a new sales and engineering office in São Paulo, Brazil, as it continues to expand globally.
The company, a provider of blow mold tooling including PET container molds, will open a 10,000-square-foot facility later this year in Brazil, said Al Roland, R&D director of business development. The company will launch the facility with four employees, he said in an interview at NPE 2000.
R&D also has overseas facilities in England and Slovakia. The company, also a custom molder, employs more than 400 worldwide.
At NPE in Chicago, the company introduced a new, patented hot-runner nozzle tip design for its molds. The short-gate technology can produce preforms with shorter, clean gate vestiges to make higher-quality PET bottles, Roland said.
The company expects to record about $40 million in sales this year, Roland said.
