CHICAGO (July 11, 10 a.m. EDT) — Black Clawson Converting Machinery LLC has formed an alliance with Cloeren Inc. for specialty extrusion, flexible packaging and other markets.
Cloeren of Orange, Texas, will make the Black Clawson rigid-lip, internally deckled die and its own flexible-lip EBR, internally deckled dies. The firms developed a new die called the ROI II that incorporates design technologies of each company. ROI II was displayed at Black Clawson´s booth at NPE in Chicago.
Black Clawson of Fulton, N.Y., displayed its recently patented Micro-Layer feedblock. The firm claims it can reduce cost and ensure that as die width increases, layer uniformity is maintained. The firm aims the new feedblock at exceptionally thin, multilayer constructions.
Black Clawson also unveiled its modular flexible packaging line, called the QFP series. It features fully integrated AC vector drives and is "plug and play," according to the company. Pre-engineered modules shorten delivery times, lower costs and provide for easy installation.
Also displayed at the Black Clawson booth was a three-layer blown film line designed and built by Rulli-Standard Ltda. of São Paulo, Brazil. The two firms formed an alliance in April that gives Rulli-Standard license to use Black Clawson designs and technology for stretch, barrier, cast polypropylene and embossed film for systems in the Mercosur countries of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
