CHICAGO (July 11, 9:40 a.m. EDT) — SAS Automation Ltd. has teamed up with two Tokyo companies to expand its end-of-arm tooling options by 650 products.
SAS signed deals with Muromoto Tekko Co. Ltd. and Argofile Japan Ltd., Trent Fisher, SAS general manager, said at NPE 2000 in Chicago.
Muromoto will manufacture its Nile-brand sprue nippers in Tokyo and allow SAS to distribute them along with its own products in the United States, Canada and Mexico under its Nip It! product line, he said.
Argofile will do the same with its chucking/gripper line, which will be distributed under SAS's new Grip It! products, Fisher said.
Both new product lines will work in conjunction with SAS' own line of end-of-arm tooling, he said.
SAS claims the partnerships, sealed in May, will make it the world's largest end-of-arm tooling firm.
Fisher expects Japanese companies that have U.S. subsidiaries to be good customers for the Muromoto and Argofile equipment.
"Lots of Japanese companies are transplanted over here. They can see something that they're used to," he added.
