CHICAGO (July 14, 10:40 a.m. EDT) — Nobody wants the scales to tip higher than they should, and K-Tron America Inc. believes it has solved the worldwide problem of unnecessary weight gain.
K-Tron debuted its Smart Weigh Belt feeder with continuous online auto tare at NPE 2000.
"There are two weigh bridges so that it can continuously tare the belt to check if material is sticking to the belt," said marketing director Kathy Hunter.
A material´s tendency to stick to the belt often skews the weight of the batches, she said. So, K-Tron has added a second belt that knows what the weight of the incoming material should be, and it works in conjuction with the first belt to compute the correct weight.
"The two are calculating the difference," Hunter added.
