CHICAGO (July 24, 2:55 p.m. EDT) — The National Plastics Center and Museum outreach program has opened an office in Chicago.
"We opened the office to service the growing demand in the Midwest. We´ve had an incredible amount of bookings" for the PlastiVan, said Marjorie E. Weiner, assistant director and national outreach director.
The museum´s PlastiVan made about 70 trips to the Midwest in the past year, and already has 75 trips planned just to Michigan.
The National Plastics Center and Museum currently runs three PlastiVans, which visit schools. Weiner said the learning program usually targets students in middle and high schools.
"I actually had a polymer engineer stop in (at NPE) and say that he saw the slime experient when he was younger, and that´s why he´s what he is today," Weiner. "Any positive influence (with plastics) can influence any career decision."
