CHICAGO (July 24, 2:50 p.m. EDT) — Filtration equipment supplier Wil-Man America Inc. has announced a name change to reflect its expanding manufacturing abilities.
Peter McKenna, president of the newly named PSI-Polymer Systems Inc., said the moniker distinguishes the former agent of European equipment suppliers as an independent, U.S.-based manufacturer.
"We were always dealing with firms out of Europe, and there were delivery time and import duties issues," he said. "In this day and age, waiting is not a positive thing.
"All those factors played into our decision to manufacture here."
PSI of Marietta, Ga., has a current administrative staff of seven. It contracts with local firms to make its equipment off-site. McKenna said the company plans to build its own facilities in the near future.
Primarily serving extrusion markets, PSI supplies filtration systems for blown film, sheet, textile and recycling industries.
McKenna said the positive feedback from current customers encouraged the company to expand its product line.
In addition to manufacturing continuous and discontinuous screen changers, polymer-divert valves and adapters, PSI now has the capability to refurbish and repair other manufacturers´ filtration equipment.
"Our business is great," McKenna said, however not disclosing sales performance details or projections. "We´re getting a positive response from existing customers and new customers, and we see that improving."
Wil-Man had represented overseas screen-changer manufacturers since 1985.
The company recently added Glen Woodcock — formerly of Dynisco Extrusion Inc. — as vice president of operations and engineering.
