CHICAGO (July 28, 4 p.m. EDT) — Hosokawa Polymer Systems is expanding its corporate offerings, introducing a line of grinding mills for rotational molding and pipe and profile extruders.
The company traditionally specializes in small granulators driven by motors of up to 100 horsepower and in larger machines made by its global sister operations.
Its new AFS line of grinding mills is slated for specialty processors that need further reduction of material beyond those granulators, said Jack Bowne, vice president of sales and marketing.
The machines also are a further expansion available to the business since Hosokawa Micron International Inc. bought the former Polymer Systems Inc. of Berlin, Conn., in 1998.
With technology and machines developed by corporate siblings such as Hosokawa Alpine of Augsburg, Germany, Hosokawa Polymer can now offer up 23 different machines ranging from grinding mills to a 600 horsepower Rotoplex granulator with a 36-by-120-inch chamber, seven rows of rotating knives and 10 bed knives.
"It´s extended our business quite a bit," Bowne said. "We´re really a worldwide supplier now."
