ORANGE, CALIF. (Aug. 2, 3:20 p.m. EDT) — A new online thermoplastics trading company, e-resin.com, wants to give processors some negotiating power.
"They´ll use us as a conduit," said President Jay Lieberman. "Instead of buying blind from a supplier that they don´t even know the identity of, (processors) will be in a position to know the purchased product and negotiate with vendors on our site."
E-resin.com, based in Orange, launched its portal July 5. The site allows companies to make an offer for resin, with suppliers providing an immediate e-mail confirmation or rejection, Lieberman said.
The three-person company is financed internally, using technology from MediaShift.com, based in Newport Beach, Calif. Lieberman, e-resin founder, said he is a 25-year industry veteran who served as vice president of distribution company Bolcof Plastic Materials of Asuza, Calif.
The site also is using the services of transportation company C.H. Robinson Worldwide.
The company eventually plans to expand to offer equipment and finished parts, Lieberman said. Currently, about 13 resin distributors use the site, he added.
The site also includes product listings, prices and technical information on commodity and engineered resins, additives, rods, sheets, tubes and profiles.
