Charles A. Damianides has been BP's North American polypropylene business manager since October 1999. BP is the second-largest producer of PP resins in the world, with manufacturing facilities in Houston and Geel, Belgium.
Prior to this position Damianides held a number of different positions within BP (formerly Amoco). He began his career with Amoco in 1987 as a research engineer at Amoco's R&D headquarters in Naperville, Ill.
In 1991, he moved into a manufacturing role for Amoco's polypropylene business and was a unit supervisor for one of Amoco's Houston facilities. After three years in manufacturing, Damianides moved into a commercial position as a product manager in polypropylene.
In 1996, he moved to Hong Kong, where he was a business development manager for Amoco Chemicals Asia Pacific. In this post, Damianides was responsible for Amoco's growth in the olefins and polyolefins product lines. In 1998, he moved into a marketing and sales role as the industry manager for Amoco's automotive market, where he managed Amoco's engineering polymers and commodity polymer sales to the automotive market.
