AKRON, OHIO (Aug. 30, 3:35 p.m. EDT) — Plastics News has renamed the trade shows and conferences it purchased recently from Advanstar Communications and is shifting its West Coast show next spring to a new date and location.
Each event in the series — previously known as the Western Plastics Expo when staged in California, and as Plastics Fairs elsewhere — now will be called Plastics Encounter. The first show, previously announced as taking place in late March in Anaheim, Calif., has been moved to April 10-12 in Los Angeles.
"The facilities that were booked for the Anaheim location had severe limitations, with the exhibition space in a dark, converted parking garage with very low ceilings. So we decided, for the benefit of attendees and exhibitors alike, to shift to the recently renovated Convention Center in downtown L.A.," said Linda Whelan, director of trade shows and marketing for Plastics News.
"That venue — which hosted part of the recent Democratic National Convention — will greatly facilitate our plans to put on a strong conference program in conjunction with the exhibition. The L.A. location also offered better hotels much closer to the show," Whelan noted.
Plastics Encounter Cleveland, meanwhile, remains slated for June 19-21, and the Atlanta show and conference for Nov. 13-15, 2001.
