Schneider was named president and chief executive officer of publicly held Borden Chemicals and Plastics LP in June.
Schneider, 54, previously served as vice president, olefins and vinyl, with Condea Vista Co., leading the company's ethylene, vinyl chloride monomer, polyvinyl chloride resins and PVC compounding businesses. In that position, he was responsible for overseeing seven manufacturing sites and sales totaling more than $450 million. A member of Condea Vista's executive committee from 1992-1999, he was instrumental in positioning the olefins and vinyls business for its November 1999 sale to Georgia Gulf Corp.
From 1987-1992, Schneider served as manager of planning and business development for Vista Chemical. Beginning in June 1991, he led the Vista team in the integration with its new German parent company. Schneider served as president of Vista Chemical Far East from 1984-1987. He also held management positions with Conoco Inc. from 1975-1984.
Schneider earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in industrial administration from Purdue University. He is a director of the Austin American Technology Corp. in Austin, Texas. Schneider also has held several leadership positions within the Vinyl Institute, most recently serving as vice chair of its executive board.
Borden Chemicals and Plastics LP operates facilities in Geismar and Addis, La., and Illiopolis, Ill.
