Crawford leads a new team that is reinventing how global procurement of plastic resins and packaging is accomplished at Hewlett-Packard Co. The team acts as a knowledge base for HP's entire procurement effort and implements HP's e-procurement strategy.
He is responsible for managing supplier relationships, leveraging HP's purchasing power, enabling e-procurement, developing risk management strategies and reducing the amount spent on commodities, with the stated objective of "delivering a sustained competitive advantage for HP."
Crawford, who earned a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University in Boston and an MBA from Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo., has worked for a total of 20 years in procurement. He spent 10 years in mid-size, high-tech firms and the last 10 years with the HP in strategic procurement roles, most recently as section manager for plastic resins and packaging.
Hewlett-Packard is a global provider of computing and imaging solutions and services. HP's major businesses include imaging and printing systems, computing systems and information technology services. Sales for the most recent fiscal year were $42.4 billion.
