Sos joined Harley-Davidson as senior purchasing engineer in Milwaukee, Wis., in July 1997. In that role, he oversees thermoplastic component design and development worldwide for all product lines for the renowned motorcycle manufacturer.
Harley, whose sales topped $2.4 billion last year, uses various engineering resins in a number of internal components, and also uses plastics in such items as fairings, bags and touring packs, as well as in fiberglass-reinforced composites for its sidecars. The firm recently won Purchasing magazine's 2000 "Medal of Professional Excellence" for its superb management of supplier relations.
Sos previously worked as a senior purchasing agent for the U.S. Gauge division of Ametek Corp.; as a senior procurement specialist with pipe and seal maker Victaulic Corp.; as a buyer/planner for office-furniture maker Knoll International; and as a product planner/supervisor for Maier's Bakery in his hometown of Easton, Pa.
He graduated from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa., in 1983 with bachelor's degree in business administration.
