The Oct. 23, Page 17 article, "Omnexus´ future enigmatic" incorrectly reported our intent for participating in the online marketplace, and I would like to clarify DuPont´s position.
We believe customers will ultimately select and buy through the channel that creates the most value for their individual companies. This could be via a direct purchase, traditional distribution or an e-enabled channel.
DuPont invested in Omnexus because we believe neutral marketplaces have a compelling value proposition for certain customer segments and will undoubtedly become a key channel to market for DuPont in the future. We wanted to be part of what we believe will be the winning e-marketplace business model for the injection molding industry. That model is a neutral, customer-focused, supplier supported, e-enabled, purchasing solution offering a broad range of quality resins which delivers the efficiency of integrating supply chains across multiple companies with only one link.
