ATLANTA (Nov. 30, 6:05 p.m. EST) — Plastics online marketplaces Omnexus and ChemCross have formed an alliance to share resources worldwide.
The alliance will help the newly formed companies extend their reach globally, according to executives with both companies.
Houston-based ChemCross (www.chemcross.com) is supported by a consortium of primarily Asia-based resin and chemical companies, including Hanwha Chemical Corp., Kumho Chemicals, Sinpec Yanzi Co. and Asahi Chemical Industry.
Omnexus (www.omnexus.com), based in Atlanta, initially was financed by five resin suppliers wanting to launch a central portal for injection and blow molders. The company now works with more than 20 global suppliers.
Both online companies recently began offering products over their Web sites. ChemCross will help Omnexus identify and assemble suppliers and plastics processors in Asia, said Omnexus interim Chief Executive Officer Yaarit Silverstone.
Similar access to the United States and Europe will help ChemCross grow, added Michael Lee, vice president of marketing at ChemCross, which also has offices in South Korea, China and Japan. Omnexus also works from Zurich, Switzerland.
