Uniloy Milacron Inc. of Manchester, Mich., has introduced a long-stroke bottle blow molding machine and a quick-change rotary trimmer.
The BW8000 uses continuous extrusion, with a center feed, and a horizontal shuttle. Uniloy Milacron said the machine is ideal for high-volume blow molding of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and other close-tolerance bottles.
The company claims the BW8000 allows color and mold changes up to 50 percent faster than competing machines. The machine can be equipped to run either standard bottles or handleware.
The press comes in single- and double-station models. The double can handle up to 20 cavities at 3.35-inch centers.
The rotary trimmer can process up to 200 bottles a minute, which Milacron claims is twice the typical output of current indexing trimmers. One trimmer can handle production from two blow molding machines.
Bottles are trimmed in a vertical position. The units can be used with nearly any kind of blow molder, including wheels, shuttles or reciprocating screw machines, the company said.
