ATLANTA (Dec. 6, 11:25 a.m. EST) — Online companies Omnexus and Conferos Inc. have formed an alliance, combining plastics purchasing and product engineering on one Web site.
The partnership, announced Dec. 5, will give customers of Atlanta-based Omnexus access to Conferos´ Web-based product-development tools. Conferos customers also can make purchases of resin and other products by linking to the Omnexus site.
Conferos, based in Waltham, Mass., changed its name from BuyPlastics.com Inc. in October. Working with Windchill software from Parametric Technologies Inc., the company offers engineers the ability to collaborate on product design or source vendors.
Omnexus, formed in April by five resin companies, offers a neutral, central portal for injection and blow molders. The company conducted its first transaction Nov. 30, for 8,000 pounds of polystyrene.
The Conferos site went online Nov. 29.
"Together, we provide the plastics industry with the ability to take plastic parts from concept to production," said Conferos Chief Executive Officer Jim Morelli.
