In her position as director of economic and international trade affairs for the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc., Lori Anderson is the association's primary staff person for critical international trade issues.
Her responsibilities include serving as the staff director for SPI's Global Business Council, which coordinates SPI's international trade activities such as international reports and seminars, association trade policy and trade missions. In addition, Anderson directs the SPI Committee on Equipment Statistics and is responsible for developing other plastics-sector statistical programs.
She also coordinates the SPI Economic Report, a thorough analysis of the U.S. plastics industry's economic impact in the United States. The SPIER also includes state-by-state data. And its searchable online version, available at www.plasticsnews.com/spier, drills all the way down to county level data.
Anderson has been with SPI in Washington for 10 years. Before joining SPI, she was a legislative aide for former Rep. Byron Dorgan, who now is a U.S. senator. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, she was a public school educator in North Dakota and Maryland.
The North Dakota native has a bachelor of science degree in education, and has a master's degree in public policy from the University of Maryland School of Public Affairs.
