Michael K. Noggle has mapped out his share of strategic plans during his 35 years in the plastics industry.
Noggle is president of Engineered Solutions of Anaheim, Calif, a consulting company specializing in strategic planning and mergers and acquisitions. He has consulted with leading original equipment manufacturers on product designs and with smaller manufacturing companies on strategic planning.
Noggle's career began as an apprentice mold maker in 1966, when he joined SPM Inc. of Anaheim, Calif. By 1973, he was president of the company, which had $1 million in sales that year. By the time he retired in 1996, SPM had grown to 15 manufacturing facilities and $250 million in sales.
In addition to his consulting business, Noggle remains active in the industry as a silver member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He also is a senior member of the Society of Manufacturing Enginneers. Noggle is a past member of the Society of the Plastics Industry's National Policy Board for the Molders and Moldmakers divisions.
An author of numerous industry papers and articles, Noggle also has presented lectures at national and international plastics industry trade shows. He is a director of the National Plastics Center and Museum of Leominster, Mass. Last year, he joined the board of Puget Plastics Corp., an Oregon-based injection molder.
Noggle also is chief executive officer of Mechanology LLC, an engineering and development company building new products for new industries based on new-to-the-world technology. One area of the company's research is in the fuel-cell field.
