Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering Co. Inc. has introduced a horizontal oscillating hauloff for blown film.
The horizontal unit complements the company´s vertical design of oscillating hauloff, called Traversanip. One key difference, according to the company, is that each design takes its own approach to randomizing gauge banding of the finished rolls.
The vertical hauloff provides random banding for all applications, but some customers prefer a horizontal design, according to officials of the company in Gloucester, Mass.
On the horizontal unit, the mechanism that controls the rotation of the air-turning bars permits them to rotate freely when the unit is in the thread-up mode. The device locks the bars when the oscillating movement starts or the line reaches a certain speed.
The interior construction of the turning bars assures uniform distribution of air along the entire length of the bar. An optional configuration allows the unit to run sticky adhesive films by floating the film on an air cushion so it does not touch the turning bars.
