Concord Business Systems Inc. reports that Tempo Plastics Ltd., a Canadian film and sheet extruder, is gathering inventory and shipping data using a scanner-equipped personal digital assistant that runs Concord software.
Tempo used to count inventory by hand, recording the results on paper then typing the information into its computer system. That took 22 hours. Using the PDA, it takes only two hours to scan bar codes and put the date into the computer.
Tempo, of Thornton, Ontario, also reports the inventory count is much more accurate now. The company also uses the device to ensure accurate shipments.
