ERLANGER, KY. — Remak Reinheimer Maschinenbau GmbH, a German robot maker, is creating its own North American headquarters, separate from its parent company, Klockner Desma in Kentucky.
On Feb. 1, Remak North America was scheduled to move from the Klockner building in Hebron, Ky., to its own offices in nearby Erlanger, said Ingo Mattstadt, sales manager for North America.
Remak makes robots, end-of-arm tooling and temperature controllers at its headquarters in Reinheim, Germany. The North American operation handles sales, service and spare parts.
Remak employs three in Kentucky. The firm also sells through independent representatives.
Mattstadt, who is based in Germany, said Remak needs to have its own identity in North America, with its own sales force. Klockner Desma has not sold injection molding machines to the plastics industry since 1993, when it sold its Klockner Ferromatik business to Milacron Inc. and decided to focus on rubber equipment.
